Greenhouse Film Clips and Hardware Accessories: Clamps, Holders, and Driver Cards

Every greenhouse installation has dozens of small hardware jobs that nobody writes articles about — until something fails. A cable holder that was never installed correctly drops the irrigation line onto the crop. A driver card that was the wrong size for the channel causes a joint to loosen mid-season. A horizontal clamp that was not positioned properly allows the film to chafe against the frame and tears within a year of installation. These small components — film clips, cable holders, driver cards, and curtain line clamps — are the connective tissue of the greenhouse. They are inexpensive individually, but getting them right is what makes the difference between a professional installation and a problem-plagued one. In this guide, we cover the essential accessory components that complete every commercial greenhouse project.

Horizontal Clamps JC-26: Joining Pipes at Any Angle
Horizontal clamps (JC-26) are designed to join two pipes at a flat or angled connection point without welding or threading. The clamp wraps around both pipes and is secured with bolts, creating a rigid connection that resists the lateral forces that come from wind load and crop weight. Horizontal clamps are especially useful at purlin-to-bow connections where the bow and purlin are in the same plane, and at end wall framing joints where standard card slot channels would be difficult to install. The JC-26 design uses a heavy steel body with two or three bolt positions that allow the clamp to accommodate slight angular variations between the two pipes — critical in field-erected structures where exact dimensions are hard to achieve without precision fabrication. Always check the clamp's safe working load and match it to the structural forces at the joint; for high-load applications, use two clamps per joint, one on each side of the pipe intersection.
Card Cable Holders JC-24 and Camcards JC-25: Cable Management on the Frame
Card cable holders (JC-24) and camcards (JC-25) are small clips that attach to the greenhouse frame and hold cables, tubes, and wires in a fixed position along the structure. Without cable holders, irrigation pipes, sensor wires, and electrical cables sag between support points, rub against the film, and eventually fail. The card cable holder clips onto the pipe and has a slot or clamp that secures the cable or tube without crushing it. Camcards serve a similar function but with a different attachment mechanism — they use a cam-style locking lever that allows the cable to be inserted and removed without removing the clip from the pipe. Both types are hot-dip galvanized for corrosion resistance and are installed at regular intervals along the cable run, typically every 1 to 2 meters depending on the weight and stiffness of the cable or tube being supported. For irrigation lines that carry water, install cable holders with sufficient drainage so that any leaks are not trapped against the pipe or the frame.
Driver Cards: JC-33, JC-34, Square Driver Card JC-32
Driver cards are the locking elements that insert into card slot channels to lock pipes and components in position. When you install a card slot channel on a pipe, the driver card — a flat steel or plastic element that matches the channel profile — slides into the channel slot and locks the pipe into the channel body. Without the correct driver card, the channel is just a loose clip that provides no structural connection. JC-33 and JC-34 driver cards are standard profile cards designed for use with our card slot channel range, and they come in different lengths to match different channel sizes and load requirements. The square driver card (JC-32) is a heavier-duty option with a square cross-section that provides greater resistance to the lateral forces that try to push the pipe out of the channel — it is the recommended choice for structural connections in high-wind or high-crop-load situations. When ordering driver cards, always specify the matching channel series; mixing driver card profiles with channel profiles from different manufacturers is the most common cause of connection failures we see in the field.
Curtain Line Clamps and Curtain Clips JC-121: Shade and Screen Management
Curtain line clamps (JC-121), also called curtain clips, are the connection hardware between shade curtains, thermal screens, or insect nets and the operating ropes or wires of the curtain system. The clamp grips the edge of the curtain or screen and attaches to the operating rope, allowing the curtain to be raised and lowered while distributing the curtain's weight evenly along the rope. JC-121 curtain line clamps are available in multiple sizes to match different curtain edge thicknesses and rope diameters. The clamp design should allow the curtain to be removed and reattached without cutting the curtain edge or the rope — this is critical for seasonal removal and storage of thermal screens and shade cloths. On heavier curtains such as thermal blankets, use two clamps per attachment point at the curtain edge to distribute the load and prevent the curtain fabric from tearing at the clamp points.
Wire Ties, Nylon Mesh Hooks, and Small Fixing Hardware
Wire ties and binding wire (JC-47) and nylon mesh hooks (JC-43) are the lightweight fixing hardware used for temporary, semi-permanent, and light-duty attachment throughout the greenhouse. Wire ties are used for bundling cables, securing drip irrigation lines to support wires, and temporary fixing during installation. Nylon mesh hooks are used to hang grow tubes, support lightweight netting, and attach small signs or labels to the greenhouse frame. The key advantage of nylon over metal for these light-duty applications is that nylon does not corrode and does not chafe against the crop — a metal hook in contact with plant stems will eventually cut the plant as the stem moves in the wind, while a nylon hook is smooth and gentle. Always use UV-stabilized nylon for outdoor and greenhouse applications; standard nylon degrades rapidly under UV exposure and will become brittle and break within a few months of installation.
Aluminum Gaskets and Pads JC-42: Corrosion-Free Spacers
Aluminum gaskets and pads (JC-42) are thin shims and spacers used where dissimilar metals meet, where a metal component must be isolated from a corrosive surface, or where a precise bearing surface is needed. Aluminum is the material of choice because it does not rust, is lightweight, and does not cause galvanic corrosion when in contact with galvanized steel — unlike bare steel or copper, which accelerate corrosion in the other metal at the contact point. Common uses include shimming a channel or clamp to achieve a precise fit, providing a bearing surface where a moving part slides along a frame member, and isolating hardware from concrete or damp wood where moisture would attack the metal. JC-42 aluminum gaskets and pads are available in standard thicknesses and can be stacked to achieve the required shim thickness for any application.
